We treat everything from the face and body. The Thread Lift procedure is a non-invasive alternative to a surgical face lift. A thread lift is a type of procedure wherein temporary sutures are used to produce a subtle but visible “lift” in the skin. Instead of removing the patient’s loose facial skin surgically, we simply suspend it by stitching up portions of it with suture like threads. This has the effect of pulling the skin back slightly and therefore lifting and tightening the face. In addition to being ideal for lifting the skin, threads combat aging in another way: by provoking the body’s “healing response” and causing the body to direct large surges of collagen to treated areas. This is important because of the vital role collagen plays in the aging process.
Unlike many who offer Aesthetic treatments at Skin Deep we include two follow-up LED treatments with each plasma service! These LED treatments are applied to the treated area during the healing process, helping to reduce initial redness after the carbon crust falls off. The first LED treatment will be around day five, calming any redness or irritation and encouraging more collagen growth to ease your skin’s transition. The second treatment will follow one to two weeks later.

- As with all procedures, risks include bleeding, bruising and swelling. Another risk is an asymmetrical outcome, one eye not matching the other, This risk is minimal but can happen.

- The non-surgical Jowl Lift, Mid-face lift, can tighten and contour the clients profile. PDO threads are excellent for defining the jaw line as well as lifting and tightening sagging skin of the jowls. Even with slight swelling immediately after treatment, immediate results can be seen.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
PDO MONO THREAD PROCEDURE
ABOUT THE PROCEDURE
A needle is inserted in a curved direction in the area to be lifted. The depth of the needle is maintained at the sub-dermal level. A similar needle is passed approximately 1-1.5 cm above this needle. Bi-directional threads made of polypropylene are inserted through the needles. The barbs along the thread act as cogs to grasp, lift and suspend a facial area. The needle is slowly withdrawn and the tissue is ‘gathered’ over the thread. Once the desired effect has been reached, the long ends of the thread are then cut off.
The sutures dissolve over the next 6 months leaving no residual material present since they are broken down by a process called hydrolysis. The new collagen and fibrous tissue that had formed around the sutures then continue to hold the skin up and tighten the skin.
The goal of a thread lift is to reposition facial and neck tissues thus restoring youthful proportions and appearances to the face.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
This depends on the area/s being treated, though on average between 1-2 hours. As mentioned the ‘lifting impact or filling’ can be seen immediately, but the process of inducing collagen takes a little longer to see the full effects build up and improve over a period of around 5-6 months. During this time your skin will continue to improve in texture and quality by becoming firmer and more youthful in appearance.
WHAT TO EXPECT POST PROCEDURE
This depends on the area/s being treated, though on average between 30 / 45minutes or up to 1.5h ours. The ‘lifting impact or filling’ can be seen immediately, but the process of inducing collagen takes a little longer to see the full effects build up and improve over a period of around 5-6 months. During this time your skin will continue to improve in texture and quality by becoming firmer and more youthful in appearance.
HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY TIME?
Minimal downtime is required. You may resume to your everyday routine after 24 hours.
You may also experience something we like to call little “zingers” for several days/weeks post the threads procedure. This is normal and will go away on their own.
POST TREATMENT CARE
- Slight bruising is to be expected – Should this happen apply arnica gel a few times a day. You can also take tablets orally for several days until the bruising has gone away.
- Use of a mild analgesics may be advised in case of any discomfort – NO NOT use any anti-inflammatory medication. *Tylenol Only*
- Avoid sleeping on the areas treated for at least 3 days
- Avoid touching the treated area during the first 4-5 hours post treatment
- Avoid dental treatments for at least 1 week post treatment
- No facial treatments for a minimum of 4 weeks (No laser treatments for 10 weeks) post treatment
- Avoid extreme temperature (particularly heat) on your treated area for a minimum of 2 weeks
- Be patient – Whilst immediate results are visible, it is important to remember it will take a minimum of 2 weeks for the collagen to begin working.

- Do not take blood thinning medications such as Vitamin E, Fish oil, Aspirin, Midol, Ibuprofen, Advil for 48 hours prior to procedure, this will cause excess bleeding and may affect your results
- No alcohol or caffeine 2 days before the procedure.
- Stop using any skin thinners (Vitamin A, glycolic acids, exfoliation)
- Please note may experience hypersensitivity and more pain around or during your menstrual cycle.

Please be aware that the result of the procedure is dependent on the following:
Medications and health conditions, skin conditions- i.e. oily and poor skin, very dry/flaky skin, sun-damaged skin, loose or relaxed skin, natural skin undertones, alcohol intake, and smoking, general stress, immune system, poor diet and not following aftercare instructions, may affect your heeled results.
Antacids, thyroid and anxiety medications have been reported as interfering with permanent makeup either affecting retention or shifting the pigment to an undesirable tone. Remember, everything we eat and drink has their own chemical structure and the electron ends that are unattached are free, make it attached to other compounds inside the body forming a new molecule that may show a different color spectrum. With that information, an educated client may have better expectations and know that she or he may have needed more frequent adjustments than others. The better condition your skin is in, the better the final result will be, but your clients may need an additional one or two weeks healing for the final results to appear. The better you take care of your skin and protected from the UV rays, the better the outcome in the lifespan of the permanent cosmetic procedures.
