WHAT ARE THREADS?
Smooth mono threads are a type of PDO (Polydioxanone) filament which can be inserted into the skin in a mesh-like pattern to form a foundation for new collagen production. The mesh technique tightens the skin naturally from within, reducing the appearance of lines, scars and wrinkles. Results appear almost instantly with a natural lifting and volumizing look. The threads remain under the skin until they eventually dissolve, spurring the body to naturally produce more collagen. The threads “anchor” into the skin and can lift upward. Collagen fills gaps in sagging skin and will restore a more youthful elasticity to the face and body.

UNDER EYES FILL
- PDO threads are used to rejuvenate the under eye and tear trough area to restore under eye volume. These PDO threads are dissolved gradually over time and collagen is produced in the process.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
PDO MONO THREAD PROCEDURE
THE PROCEDURE: ALSO KNOWN AS THE REJUVENATION PROCESS
At the start of the procedure a local anesthetic is either inserted into the area/areas being treated with tiny injections (this may be considered the most painful part of this process) or the use of topical numbing. The PDO threads are inserted beneath the skin via a cannula (a very fine needle, especially designed to achieve a smooth and comfortable treatment into the fat or muscle layers. The lifting and filling effect at this point depends on the areas being treated is almost “instant.”
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
This depends on the area/s being treated, though on average between 1-2 hours. As mentioned the ‘lifting impact or filling’ can be seen immediately, but the process of inducing collagen takes a little longer to see the full effects build up and improve over a period of around 5-6 months. During this time your skin will continue to improve in texture and quality by becoming firmer and more youthful in appearance.
WHAT TO EXPECT POST PROCEDURE
This depends on the area/s being treated, though on average between 30 / 45minutes or up to 1.5h ours. The ‘lifting impact or filling’ can be seen immediately, but the process of inducing collagen takes a little longer to see the full effects build up and improve over a period of around 5-6 months. During this time your skin will continue to improve in texture and quality by becoming firmer and more youthful in appearance.
HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY TIME?
Minimal downtime is required. You may resume to your everyday routine after 24 hours.
You may also experience something we like to call little “zingers” for several days/weeks post the threads procedure. This is normal and will go away on their own.
POST TREATMENT CARE
- Slight bruising is to be expected – Should this happen apply arnica gel a few times a day. You can also take tablets orally for several days until the bruising has gone away.
- Use of a mild analgesics may be advised in case of any discomfort – NO NOT use any anti-inflammatory medication. *Tylenol Only*
- Avoid sleeping on the areas treated for at least 3 days
- Avoid touching the treated area during the first 4-5 hours post treatment
- Avoid dental treatments for at least 1 week post treatment
- No facial treatments for a minimum of 4 weeks (No laser treatments for 10 weeks) post treatment
- Avoid extreme temperature (particularly heat) on your treated area for a minimum of 2 weeks
- Be patient – Whilst immediate results are visible, it is important to remember it will take a minimum of 2 weeks for the collagen to begin working.

- Do not take blood thinning medications such as Vitamin E, Fish oil, Aspirin, Midol, Ibuprofen, Advil for 48 hours prior to procedure, this will cause excess bleeding and may affect your results
- No alcohol or caffeine 2 days before the procedure.
- Stop using any skin thinners (Vitamin A, glycolic acids, exfoliation)
- Please note may experience hypersensitivity and more pain around or during your menstrual cycle.

Please be aware that the result of the procedure is dependent on the following:
Medications and health conditions, skin conditions- i.e. oily and poor skin, very dry/flaky skin, sun-damaged skin, loose or relaxed skin, natural skin undertones, alcohol intake, and smoking, general stress, immune system, poor diet and not following aftercare instructions, may affect your heeled results.
Antacids, thyroid and anxiety medications have been reported as interfering with permanent makeup either affecting retention or shifting the pigment to an undesirable tone. Remember, everything we eat and drink has their own chemical structure and the electron ends that are unattached are free, make it attached to other compounds inside the body forming a new molecule that may show a different color spectrum. With that information, an educated client may have better expectations and know that she or he may have needed more frequent adjustments than others. The better condition your skin is in, the better the final result will be, but your clients may need an additional one or two weeks healing for the final results to appear. The better you take care of your skin and protected from the UV rays, the better the outcome in the lifespan of the permanent cosmetic procedures.
